Acclaimed folk duo GreenMatthews present an enchanting new musical adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s beloved classic, The Wind in the Willows, told entirely through traditional English folk music and brand-new lyrics.
The 90-minute show paints a vivid picture of Grahame’s world – from the humble comfort of Mole End to the grandeur of Toad Hall. There is no acting, no sets, and no spoken dialogue — the entire story is told in song, performed live by two skilled multi-instrumentalists on guitar, flute, shawm, recorder and English border bagpipes.
Join Mole, Ratty, Badger and the irrepressible Mr Toad as their adventures along the river, on the open road, and through the Wild Wood unfold through a tapestry of well-loved and lesser-known folk tunes, each one reimagined to carry the story forward. The result is a warm, witty and wonderfully musical journey through one of English literature’s best-loved tales — vivacious, sparkling and full of life.
GreenMatthews’ The Wind in the Willows offers a fresh and intimate way to experience a timeless story — through nothing but voice, melody, and the magic of live folk music.
