Join us for a long weekend of music and history in Belgium! Based in the small town of Waterloo just south of Brussels, we’ll spend two days visiting the site and surroundings of the famous battle that changed the course of European history. We also invite you to join us for a very special concert of songs and ballads from the Napoleonic Wars, especially created for this weekend.

WHAT’S INCLUDED
– 3 nights bed and breakfast at the Hotel Waterloo
– Lunch (Friday & Saturday) and dinner (Thursday-Friday-Saturday)
– Group transport for all excursions.
– Guided tour of Waterloo Battlefield, including the Memorial Museum, the Panorama, the Lion’s Mound and Hougomont Farm.
– Visit to Mont-Saint-Jean Farm, which was used as a hospital during the battle.
– Brewery tour of Brasserie Waterloo with tasting.
– Visit to Musée Wellington, a museum dedicated to the Iron Duke in the building which he requisitioned as his HQ during the battle.
– Concert performance of songs and ballads of the Napoleonic Wars from GreenMatthews.
– We’ll be joined for the trip by Napoleonic historian Marcus Cribb who’ll be leading the tours and will be on hand throughout to answer any questions you might have.

GETTING TO WATERLOO from the UK
BY CAR
Via France:
Waterloo is around 2h 30m drive from Calais (ferry or Eurotunnel) and around 2h drive from Dunkirk (ferry). Ferries depart from Dover and Eurotunnel departs from Folkestone.
Via The Netherlands:
Waterloo is around 2h 30m from Hook of Holland (ferry from Harwich) and Rotterdam (ferry from Hull). It’s around 3 hours drive from Amsterdam (ferry from Newcastle)
BY TRAIN
Eurostar sell return tickets to Any Belgian Station, which covers you for a return trip to anywhere in Belgium (which includes Waterloo!) Trains depart from London St Pancras International to Brussels Midi-Zuid and the journey time is 2 hours. From there it’s a 20 minute train ride to Waterloo and trains depart every 30 minutes.
The hotel is about 30 minutes walk or a 5-minute taxi ride from Waterloo railway station.
BY AIR
The nearest airport is Brussels. On arrival at the airport, take the train to Brussels Midi-Zuid and change there for a train to Gare de Waterloo. The whole train journey should take around one hour.
